The Avionics Systems Engineer - Flight Management Systems will perform system design and development for civil aircraft Flight Management Systems (FMS) as a member of a multidisciplinary team that advances GE’s state of the art Flight Management products. Your tasks will require the ability to solve moderately complex problems in a defined scope, and resolve issues through immediate action and / or short-term planning.
Working in a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and update civil flight management systems with functional areas including:- Navigation
- Input / Output (I/O)
- Displays
- Datalink
- Flight Planning
- Lateral and Vertical Guidance
- Performance
In addition, you will:
  • Identify, evaluate, and occasionally develop engineering tools and processes necessary to meet the project’s engineering and business goals
  • Provide timely communications on issues or developments relevant to assigned tasks, maintaining a focus on safety and reliability
  • Generate system requirements using industry best practices and tools
  • Conduct Problem Report (PR) investigation and resolution
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in an engineering field

  • Ability to work remotely with local, remote, and cross-cultural teams
  • Strong listening and questioning skills to effectively communicate in 1-on-1 and small group settings
  • Willingness to work on projects which support either of our military or civil customers
  • Desire to work in an environment where safety considerations are the backdrop for all critical engineering solutions
  • Knowledge or interest in analysis of real-time aspects of hardware and software issues
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and systems engineering principles
  • Knowledge or interest in Flight Management Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
  • Personal computer (PC) proficiency
