Responsibilities


  • Drives the creation and support of databases that deliver world-class availability, performance in a cost effective fashion
  • Guides development teams in the best use of advanced features and capabilities of database engines
  • Use your knowledge of technology and operational best practices to drive the design, development and implementation of operational standards and capabilities for connected services that enable highly available, scalable & reliable customer experiences
  • Troubleshoots database related issues, identifies root causes and implements corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Establishes and maintains standard operating procedures
  • Serves on an on-call rotation and drives issues to closure when called into action
  • Develop, enhance and deploy replication and high availability solutions and assist in evaluating infrastructure improvements for long term growth and cost efficiency
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. Create, plan and test scenarios
  • Implement and maintain database security policies.
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
  • Monitoring - performance, process log, troubleshoot database related issues.
  • Solves complex performance issues

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in relational database administration, in a production environment (ideally supporting OLTP databases)
  • 5+ years of Oracle Database experience, with RAC
  • Proficient with large scale environment (in few terabytes size) and high throughput databases
  • Expertise with design of fault tolerant Oracle DB design and large db migration
  • Sharding experience is a plus
  • MySQL experience is a plus
  • NoSQL experience is a plus
  • Experience with Unix, Linux
  • SQL tuning skills with hands-on experience in large, very busy environments
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong problem finding, resolution, and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with strong teamwork skills and leadership capabilities
  • Customer focused
  • Bachelor degree in computer science (or related field) or equivalent relevant experience
