We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Senior Software Engineer to join our development efforts in the design and implementation of different image segmentation and characterization algorithms. As a member of our group, independent and collaborative work are both expected during the development and implementation of new algorithms. The successful candidate should be able to understand requirements, objectively analyze problems and efficiently design and implement solutions as well as clearly document their work.

Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical:
Intra-vascular Optical Coherence Tomography (IVOCT) is a new imaging modality capable of providing high resolution images of arterial vessels. The need for fast and reliable interpretation of these images is becoming increasingly important as they can provide potentially lifesaving information. Relying solely on human interpretation can be expensive and time consuming, not to mention prone to inconsistency and errors.
 
Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success:
·         Strong C/C++ and Object Oriented design skills.
·         Demonstrated experience in software architecture within a complicated imaging system.
·         Demonstrated experience in image processing/analysis algorithm development which includes the following elements:
·         Rapid algorithm exploration and prototyping in high-level language (MATLAB)
·         Algorithm performance evaluation
·         C++ object oriented implementation
·         Familiarity with machine learning techniques (data clustering, decision trees, feature extraction and analysis)
·         Validation and testing
·         Experience with SIMD CPU and/or GPU programming.
·         A degree in Computer Science or any related area.
 
Your preferred qualifications and education:
·         10 years of commercial development experience
·          A graduate degree plus 5 years of commercial development experience
·          Familiarity with source control and bug tracking tools.
·          Excellent English communication skills, oral, reading and writing (should be comfortable reading scientific publications).
·          Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
·          Experience developing on the Microsoft Windows platform.
·          Algorithm development experience for biomedical imaging applications.
·          Experience with MATLAB is a strong plus.
·          Experience with applied statistical analysis is a plus.
