Head of ASIC Engineering – Networking Processors

By 2020, there will be 50 billion connections to the internet, whereby anything that can benefit from an internet connection will be connected (i.e. Networked Society). Over the last 3+ years Ericsson has invested billions of dollars to move from the #1 position in Wireless Infrastructure to take claim as the #1 in end-to-end Converged Infrastructure.
Product Development Unit (PDU) IP Routers is responsible for driving cutting edge IP technologies to meet the demands of operators to build state of the art broadband networks that can deliver triple play services like: IPTV, Video on Demand, Video Conferencing, Virtual Private Networks, Broadband Aggregation, Wi-Fi solutions, Multimedia Networks, and Edge Routing. PDU IP develops HW platforms, L2/L3 functionality and ASICs to meet the technology needs of the operator community. We are working on developing the next generation platform and technology including ASIC's to meet the requirements of the 4thgeneration IP networks.
As Head of the ASIC Engineering team, the responsibilities will include leading a management team of Sr. Managers whose teams are responsible for multiple generations of ASICs in various stages of development and deployment
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managed engineering teams who have developed ASICs for networking. He/She will thrive on driving the engineering roadmap to capitalize on fast paced industry innovation and market transitions. The candidate will possess solid managerial experience with a dedication to building high performance engineering teams. He/She will also foster a culture of collaboration, initiative, innovation, and business results. The successful candidate will evaluate and strengthen the team as required, to solidify succession plans and enhance management and employee capabilities to meet strategic and operating objectives.

Job Overview:
- Lead the organization responsible for design, development and production of next generation ASICs and Network Processors
- Collaborate with colleagues across Product Development Unit IP and Development Unit IP and Broadband to achieve strategic objectives
- Drive innovation in the team
- Serve as the authority for the ASIC technology within Ericsson and represent the company in front of customers and partners
- Drive quality, productivity and predictability in the team
- Work with operations and vendors to ensure a high level of quality in the product
- Travel to and interact with other Ericsson locations, specifically Vancouver and Stockholm.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- 15+ years experience in leading ASICs; 10+ years experience managing organizations
- Experience working in a networking company
- Must have full product lifecycle experience
- Ability to undertake loosely defined goals, create order, and drive closure
- Ability to organize, delegate, and effectively deliver to large and complex programs
- Conflict resolution skills including ability to bridge style difference, gaps in language skills, and differences in incentives
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication
- Bachelors degree required; MBA strongly preferred
- Demonstrated engineering experience in development of ASICs
