Context/Scope:
Group Tax is a global function. The team is based in 4 locations – UK, US, Netherlands and Ireland.   There are 55 members of the team.   Group Tax strategy is to optimize our tax position through proactive tax planning aligned with our commercial strategy and structures.
NA team oversees all areas of US federal, state, and international income taxes, as well as key functions in certain indirect taxes (e.g., sales/use and property).  Team is accountable for all US income tax reporting, compliance, risk management, and planning in line with the Global Tax Policy.  NA Team also has responsibilities for USVI & Canada.
Primarily responsible for leading North America tax interaction with Internal Revenue Service including understanding of all business transactions and changes that impact the federal income tax return.  Support on mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and commercial transactions. 
 
Purpose of Role:
Primary interface and primary responsibility for day-to-day management and interaction with the Internal Revenue Service who are on-site.  Key tax technical resource for Group Tax.  Accountable for NA tax planning.

Key Outputs:
· Lead tax interaction with IRS
· Responsible for having supporting role in NA tax planning across federal and state taxes, international tax planning efforts and transfer pricing matters as well as M&A.
· Responsible for coordinating and influencing global stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience Required:
Strong federal tax technical knowledge
Strong legal research and writing
Strong financial modelling and excel skills
Strong tax accounting knowledge
3+ years of corporate tax experience preferred
1-2 years of managing Large Case IRS Audit or equivalent controversy experience
Preferably both corporate and advisory experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA, Masters in Tax, or JD
Ability to effectively lead in a team oriented/matrixed environment to ensure the maximum value is provided to the organization.
