The Global Surveillance Group sits within the Compliance Surveillance Strategy Group, a centralized surveillance function within the Global Compliance Department. Global Surveillance focuses on firmwide information barrier surveillances and enforcement of firmwide trading policies. The group strives to establish advanced technology-based trading surveillances to detect potential insider trading, market abuse, and/or violations of firmwide trading policies. Global Surveillance focuses on establishing surveillance to cover all business units and employees worldwide part of the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

The open position within Global Surveillance will focus on information barrier surveillances, ad-hoc investigations arising from internal escalations and regulatory inquiries, as well as project-based work on building out surveillance parameters underpinning new surveillance technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analysis of firmwide information barrier surveillances.

• Investigations regarding potential trading issues flagged by the business units, such as Securities Division or Investment Banking.

• Close liaison with the Compliance Surveillance Analytics Group and Compliance Information Technology in the development, review, and testing of new automated surveillance models and outputs.

• Close liaison with the Anti-Money Laundering Group globally on trading investigations with global touch-points.

• Ad-hoc projects based on reviews of market-moving news events such as mergers/acquisition announcements, corporate accounting scandals, new financing announcements, etc.


EXPERIENCE:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree

• At least 2 years of experience in a Compliance, surveillance or other function that provided exposure to trading analysis


Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills (Pivot tables, experience with large data sets, proficient in data manipulation and presentation.)

• Strong communicator, comfortable in presenting and explaining analysis

• Interest in the markets, current events, and financial news

• Knowledge/experience with array of financial products (including stocks, bonds, equity/credit derivatives)

• Team player with great attitude and work ethic

• Ability to multi-task on several different assignments/projects

• Interest in working on a global team dealing with global businesses

• Series 7/63 preferred
