Department
This position reports to our Manufacturing Engineering Department in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
• Maintain and provide technical support to maintenance personnel on machine control parameters.
• Support manufacturing as it relates to tooling speeds and feeds for correct preset tooling on machining centers.
• Write basic programs for 3, 4 and 5 axis mills, lathes, & machining centers.
• Demonstrate and train operators on programs created.
• Maintain appropriate level s of documentation.
Main Tasks
• Minimize the number of operations by maximizing machine capabilities.
• Provide support to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality by creating accurate CNC programs, specifying capable fixturing and perishable tooling, and continuously improving the manufacturing process to meet or exceed cost, quality, delivery, and safety goals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Requirements
• A two year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Four plus years experience as a fully operational set up and r un machinist mills and lathes.
• Experience performing full set-ups, program edits, and holding tolerances as tight as +/- .0001"
• Ability to read an engineering print, including the understanding of tolerancing and GD&T is necessary.
• Ability to understand CMM layout output and relating information back to machine coordinates.
• Ability to use shop mathematics.MS Of fice computer skills
• Knowledge of Unigraphics/NX
