Description:
The qualified applicant will be able to provide the following expertise:
- Technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems.
- Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
- Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.
- May be involved in customer installation and training.
- Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.
- Reports to a supervisor or manager level.
- Knowledge of diagnostics and creating strategic solutions to correct complex networked and/or wireless system problems
- Experience with project management and leadership of project implementation over less seasoned engineers.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
- Software background in the telecommunications field, VOIP, Ericsson Switching, EVDO knowledge is preferred.
- Experience in programming with C, SQL, HTML, and/or Perl, and have systems experience in UNIX or LINUX is preferred.
Skills, Experience and Education:
- College degree, preferably a BSEE, or related work experience totaling 8+ years post high school experience.
- 3 to 5 years work experience in telecommunications, specifically in field or switch disciplines, with emphasis on systems integration, maintenance, projects, manpower, scheduling and/or operations.
- Experience with Ericsson CDMA, eBSC, SE1200 Router, Cisco 10k Router, IP certification preferred
- Solid understanding of the AXE, Packet MSC, GPRS WCDMA technologies
- Must possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively lead a diverse technical work force.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task work load while maintaining composure in ever changing, stressful and demanding work environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
Preferred: Typically filled by individuals with:
- In-depth familiarity with field operations process and procedures.
- Previous leadership/management experience.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced telecommunications networks.
