POSITION PURPOSE




The Senior Quality Analyst defines test strategies for a total testing solution of small to medium sized applications, ensuring proper tools, techniques, and methodologies are applied throughout the entire test lifecycle. Works closely with the application teams as programs are developed. The Senior Quality Analyst ensures a thorough understanding of the entire design approach, maintains an expert ability to define test management, strategies, scenarios and scripting methodologies for complete system integration test solution. This includes defining tests of multiple programs residing in multiple libraries, running on multiple systems and assessing test designs and data test beds. Interfaces with business subject matter experts to understand the business process, metrics and language.

Responsibilities:
Performing test activities to verify and validate that developed products and implemented enhancements satisfy business requirements and client expectations by: developing and maintaining test schedules, cost estimates and forecasts; writing master test plans and/or coordinating test specifications, test cases, and test data; managing defect workflow, troubleshooting test issues and defects by working with developers in researching and resolving defects and issues.  Develop and execute manual scripts to support testing requirements or, coordinate the team effort to complete.  Work with onshore coordinators and an offshore team to ensure quality releases are attained.  Participate in review of business and design specifications. Participate in working design sessions, walkthroughs, and ongoing decision-making.  Document and present test strategies to management, business and development partners, including identifying and presenting areas and strategies for improvement.  Make recommendations regarding defect prioritization.  Produce test result metrics and reporting to track test progress and quality effectiveness.  Review test results and report findings to management, using standardized reports and metrics. Evaluate the accuracy and precision of the product from the business point of view and drive recommendations for production readiness.




  • The Sr. Quality Analyst must define test environments for total testing solution of major applications.

  • Must ensure proper tools, techniques, and methodologies are applied throughout the entire test cycle.

  • Works closely with the application teams and project managers as programs are developed. Is a member of the technical design team to ensure a thorough understanding of the entire design approach.

  • Signs off on test strategy, test development, and test results prior to implementation of programs into production.

  • The Sr. Quality Analyst helps application teams prioritize defects. Must have the ability to guide application developers through performance and problem resolution. Ensures test designs encompass adequate data test beds.

    MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Develop and analyze master test plans, test cases, test schedules & test scripts from Analysts and Associates.

  • Identify and thoroughly analyze defects, issues, risks, and action items along with identifying the business requirements & the system requirements as part of the project team.

  • Define and track quality assurance metrics.

  • Monitor & instruct team members on proper procedures to ensure team compliance.

  • Provide status reports to Manager on development projects.

  • Sign-off on test strategy, test development, and test results prior to implementation into production.

    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

    Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

    Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

1) Experience working with/leading teams of both onshore and offshore resources
2) Web testing experience
3) Relational database knowledge (e.g DB2, etc.)
4) Thorough experience in all components of HP Quality Center (Requirements, Test Plan, Test Lab, Defects)
5) Experience with automated regression testing systems
6) Undergraduate or graduate BS or BA with major in the Information Technology field or commensurate level of experience.
7) Knowledge of software development methods and quality assurance best practice techniques
8) Interpersonal skills including written and oral communications and negotiation skills.
9) 5+ years overall Quality Assurance test experience (or relevant THD experience)
10) Interpersonal and relationship skills necessary to work with an integrated team of customers, product managers, implementation specialists and developers
11) Seasoned tester with skills applied to functional and regression testing
12) Ability to provide technical leadership in test planning, procedures development and test execution
13) Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities
14) Contributes to software development functional and technical design phases
15) Ability to draft formal test schedules and estimates with minimal to no supervision
16) Provides testing leadership and support to the software development post-implementation/deployment phase
17) Ability to formulate and implement improvements into test processes and practices
18) Shows initiative in providing solutions to common/simple and varying complex departmental processes, generating new ideas and suggestions as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -



  • Solid working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.

  • Familiarity with the Mercury Interactive Product Suite.

  • The ability to successfully, professionally, and diplomatically interact with others and develop relationships with people in the organization.

  • Ensure highest quality through use of QA processes & procedures.
