We’re currently seeking qualified candidates to join our team in the position of:

Associate Director, Assay Development

Position Summary:
As manager and individual contributor will lead research and development of analytical products in support of our strategy, goals and objectives, and hence will direct various aspects of assay development projects for Genoptix Medical Laboratory-based tests. The candidate has a strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as NGS, PCR and IHC, and proficiency in the development of targeted NGS products in a CLIA environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must possess a track record of managing and leading others towards success of business goals and objectives.

Ensures that respective activities are performed to the highest standards.

Ensure science-based design and robust development and continued improvement of new and existing analytical products in accordance with CLIA and FDA requirements.

Work closely with directors/managers of bioinformatics group and other Genoptix and Novartis departments to ensure efficient functioning of analytical development.

Additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage operationally and functionally, and supervise analytical team (as assigned) including setting of objectives, performance management and professional development of associates.
Train new staff on technical and operational procedures. Serve as an analytical expert for other departmental staff.

Ensure adherence to company policy on patient and client confidentiality and timeliness and accuracy of completion, quality of results and efficient use of resources.

Manage assigned projects and timelines; establish, execute, and monitor project plan, including deadlines. Oversee work of project staff as assigned. Develop and monitor work schedules; ensure timeliness and quality of work.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Degree in Biological, Biochemical or BioPhysical Sciences or a related research-based scientific discipline.

Commercial R&D experience in diagnostics preferred.

Masters plus 15 years of relevant experience.

PhD plus ten (10) years of relevant experience, which may include post- doctoral experience, and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in industry setting.

Commercial R&D experience in diagnostics preferred.

Minimum of four (4) years direct supervisory/team leader role.
