We’re currently seeking qualified candidates to join our team in the position of: Cytogenetics Technologist II Position Summary: The licensed testing personnel are responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs routine, moderate and high complexity tests and reports results in accordance with established procedures. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, perform instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and must either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Perform high complexity testing only under onsite, direct supervision of a qualified general supervisor. | Education: Have earned a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution. Qualifications: Have at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing in the specialty or sub-specialty they are working. Possess a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist or Clinical Molecular Biologist Scientist (FISH only) license issued by the State of CA. The Technologists in Cytogenetics must be certified by the NCA or ASCP in Clinical Cytogenetics.
