The Service Center Electronic Technician will perform Overhaul & Repair as well as Re-Certification of used equipment. In this job you will analyze equipment for recommended parts replacement, determine parts that require repair or replacement, provide recommendation of parts to be quoted for repair of the equipment and perform repairs.
In this role you will perform disassembly, failure analysis, and assembly and test operations of used equipment, following engineering drawings, parts specifications, assembly procedures and/or verbal instructions. The scope of work includes both surface and subsea equipment. You will perform hydraulic and nitrogen gas pressure testing, electrical, electronic, and functional testing of products. You will provide general technical direction and assistance to the customer and GE Drilling Service operations in repair and maintenance of drilling equipment.
In addition, you will:
  • Read drawings and engineering specifications to perform disassembly, assembly and factory acceptance test tasks on used products
  • Perform failure analysis on used parts and enter data into electronic and hard copy forms
  • Build and soldier wiring harnesses, connectors and electronic circuit boards
  • Carry out functional testing using a wide range of electrical test equipment
  • Test Subsea electronics modules and Topside Modules
  • Test, fault find and repair Electronic equipment
  • Carry out test of Electrical / Electronic assemblies
  • Use Freq. generators, Oscilloscopes, Multi meters, signal generators, and electrical test equipment to ensure equipment functions as per specification
  • Operate and maintain appropriate equipment
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and other material handling equipment as needed
  • Identify defect and generate documentation if failure of test occur, as required
  • Work in partnership with other personnel
  • Fill test reports, data sheets, test charts, etc., per specification
  • Perform necessary inspection and sign off all required documentation
  • Perform visual inspection and functional testing
  • Inspect own work for integrity and quality
  • Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations and maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities
  • Perform all duties as assigned by management
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Test and assembly of Electronic equipment
    Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to obtain forklift operator license and certification to operate overhead cranes
  • Ability and willingness to do some light to heavy lifting and constant standing

  • General knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to read electronic diagrams and understand how the components work and use logic Fault finding techniques to overcome failures
  • Strong knowledge of Pod and control designs
  • Team player
  • Ability to perform highly complex troubleshooting and repair of equipment
  • Knowledgeable in good housekeeping requirements and all safety regulations
  • Ability and willingness to read and correctly interpret prints / drawings and specifications
  • Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Hearing and eye protection (safety equipment) must be used
