The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for defined work or projects with moderate system complexity. This role follows and develops an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives. The successful candidate will have the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning, and in addition put theory and design into practice for customers' benefit.
In addition you will:
  • Prepare documentation for digital protection and control systems including site-specific specification test plans and procedures
  • Prepare generic and site-specific control system configurations using PC based software tools
  • Execute hands-on configuration and testing of system components to demonstrate successful integration
  • Develop innovative solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Perform system integration and validation activities
  • Create and implement effective procedures for version control of systems configuration and database management
  • Engage in system factory acceptance testing with end user
  • Act as technical support to commercial team in the preparation of digital control system offers
  • Perform technical support for project meetings with end users
  • Provide technical support to digital control system maintenance staff
  • Lead team training and development
  • Interface with the R&D team where developments are required to meet customer needs
  • Prepare and maintain supporting work plans for presentation to team leaders, functional supports and external organizations
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering or other technical position)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbo machinery design and performance
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering
  • Prior experience in systems, design, controls, evaluation and/or Product Support Engineering
  • Knowledge of gas turbine thermodynamic cycles, performance, and controls
  • Knowledge of developing testing requirements for system validation
  • Knowledge of requirements management, concept of operations, and interface control documents
  • Experience in aerodynamic or mechanical design and integration of gas turbine compressors, combustors, and turbine sections
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and achieve milestones and deliverables
  • Ability to integrate work within a team environment
