AIS Product Mgr, Sr. (Job Number: 1313693)
Description
Part of the Global Product Management Team, the position is responsible for working as assigned by the manager for the global product set in creating, managing and implementing product strategy for complex assigned product(s) within the Alternative Investment Services space such as single manager, fund of funds, trade execution, private equity, etc. Working with the Relationship Management, Service Delivery, Technology and Client Service teams, this position will collaborate with internal stakeholders to agree and execute both tactical and strategic product plans for the assigned client segment. As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will provide support to clients through the sales/RFP process, development of marketing collateral and direct customer contact, when necessary. As opportunities present themselves, the incumbent may be participating in industry forums, conferences and events. The incumbent must have demonstrated the ability to recognise new opportunities as well as subtle points of difference relative to the competition and the ability to effectively communicate this internally and to clients. Demonstrates understanding of internal policy and external regulatory compliance issues as well as profitability modeling. Ensures compliance with internal policy and external regulation in developing and maintaining assigned products. Executes according to the strategic direction of the business. Preferred candidate should have direct industry experience, working within a hedge fund/private equity or fund administrator and a deep understanding of the assigned product marketplace, delivery systems and regulatory environment operations. The incumbent must be able to collaborate across multiple group within AIS and other lines of business within BNY Mellon, be organized, a strong communicator and a team player. At this level, the incumbent is fully proficient in the product management role and able to function independently, with minimal guidance from the manager. Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal & commercial skills. Will be required to recognise new opportunities & provide integrated product solutions to clients wherever possible. To develop a keen understanding of a clients strategic needs & then design proactive solutions to address those needs. Deep knowledge of Hedge Fund/Private Equity market and Middle Office services. Would be advantageous to have skills in performance Attribution reporting as well as Risk Modeling for Hedge Funds. Incumbent must employ various innovative strategies that promote the full range of business products / services through close collaboration with Technology, Service Delivery, Relationship management, Sales, Legal, compliance, Risk & any other relevant parties. Role will involve setting a vision & a direction for the assigned product(s) / project(s) & a strategy for achieving overall business goals. Therefore post holder must have the ability to easily translate deep technical knowledge into new market and / or product contexts. Must be innovative and able to think strategically. The role is key to the business's ability to maintain, develop & create new AIS products. Must have ability to work independently towards long term goals & a desire for excellence at all times with a clear sense of personal responsibility. Will need to demonstrate that they can work self sufficiently with both internal & external stakeholders. The role will require engagement with a broad cross section of the organisation - senior management, client sector management, relationship management, service delivery & sales. Effective external engagement with senior level clients & prospects is essential in order to fully understand their products, then design innovative value adding solutions which solve client problems. Good interpersonal skills, presentation skills & cultural appreciation required.
Qualifications
College Degree . MBA preferred. 10+ years in the Securities Servicing Industry including 2-3 yrs experience with Hedge Fund product and service delivery. 12+ years in the Hedge Fund Industry, with complex derivitave understanding, Middle Office operations, Performance Attribution and Risk modelling experience, and deep knowledge of assigned products.
