Firmware Engineering Professional will be part of a high performing Firmware development team. This development position offers significant opportunity for growth. In this position you would be responsible for design, development and enhancement of software applications that enable Next Generation POWER Systems. This position requires at minimum 6 years of C++ and 3 years of LINUX/UNIX environment. Prior knowledge of test driven development is required and experience working in an Agile environment is a strong plus. In addition to standard software development activities (DCUT) candidates will also perform software integration documentation and other activities. Prior knowledge of Tools such as Rational ClearQuest, Rational TeamConcert is another plus. Candidate will demonstrate drive to develop the best products. Key responsibilities of this job position include the following: • Become an expert in embedded firmware development, evaluate feasibility and develop project schedules • Act as a technical lead with a focused team and lead execution • Support firmware for various POWER systems bring-up and test-cycles • Investigate and develop solutions/workaround for complex software problems This role develops and maintains embedded software associated with various IBM products. This work encompasses several key firmware deliverables for various products and components which form the link between the multiple operating systems of a server and the hardware on which it runs. Firmware serves logically as an extension of the hardware and combines with the hardware to comprise platform functionality. It provides abstraction services to higher level entities and provides different functionality based on exact hardware configurations. It also initializes hardware, manages system platforms, and provides virtualization, capacity on demand, RAS (reliability, availability, and serviceability) and manufacturing hardware test functionality. Firmware is not part of the operating system, middleware or application software; it is packaged and shipped with the hardware and can often be updated in the field.

Required Bachelor's Degree At least 4 years experience in C++ English: Fluent
