Description
As
a Senior or Principal Technical Architect you will assist the sales
team with complex technical sales activities to maximize revenue
opportunities and ensure the highest levels of internal and customer
satisfaction, including solution recommendations with deployment
architecture(s). The position requires excellent knowledge of SAS and
related 3rd party products for:
- The ability to use and install SAS Products, Solutions, and related 3rd party software;
- Lead process to design and suggest complex, multi-solution, architectures;
You will also focus on
SAS Products and Solutions for core technology and related 3rd party
products used by SAS customers. You may specialize in technical areas
such as High Performance Computing, GRID, Hadoop, security, SAS
Solutions, etc.

- Understand and describe how SAS products and solution(s) are used to address complex technical and business challenges, with knowledge of competitive information to identify how SAS stands apart
- Building a trusted relationship with Account Executives, System Engineers, and SAS clients.
- Demonstrate functional and technical leadership for architecture during sales opportunities.
- Working proactively with others, including Account Executives, Systems Engineers, Solution Architects and other personnel to address complex customer technical needs for SAS sales opportunities.
- Strategizing with the sales team on objectives for customer sales situations, understanding how the Technical Architect activity relates to overall sales plans
- Conducting discovery meeting(s) to collect, analyze, clarify and document technical requirements during a sales cycle to produce a solution proposal.
- Providing detailed, practical and technical guidance about the value of SAS products and solutions, and setting proper expectations.
- Delivering standard, customized and/or strategic presentations and demonstrations outlining functional or technical capabilities.
- Describing SAS’ competitive advantages and the business benefits of SAS products and solutions as they apply to client needs.
- Utilizing knowledge of a single domain or industry (Financial Services) to increase SAS's credibility in sales situations.
- Assisting in the response to RFI/RFP's utilizing the RFP Repository, crafting and completing responses.
- Participating in product and solution training to acquire and maintain on-going, detailed, product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings and related solutions.
Qualifications
Essential
-
Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, business, or related field; with
-
8 or more years of systems engineering, application development and/or technical customer support, technical sales or 8 or more years of experience working with medium to large banks (or related financial institutions) using related technology or applications.

Experience with SAS Products and/or Solutions.

Must have knowledge of technology, architecture, software or applications, and sales processes.

Ability to conceptualize client needs, then translate, document and communicate effectively about specific SAS products and solution strategies.

Advanced understanding of how enterprise technology is used. Strong problem solving, organizational and decision-making skills.

Excellent facilitation, interpersonal and communications skills. Public speaking experience, or related presentation experience, including sales or related presentations.

Demonstrated understanding of sales strategies and cycles.

Familiarity with competitor products, complex systems, and business processes related to advanced technology use.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Travel as business requirements dictate at management discretion.
Preferences

Highest emphasis is on application/technology, pre-sales experience, and experience with SAS products.

Knowledge of computing resources, including Processors, Memory,

Network, Database(s), Storage, Programming languages, Grid,

Virtualization a plus.

12 or more years of systems engineering, application development and/or technical customer support, technical sales or 12 or more years of experience working with medium to large banks (or related financial institutions) using related technology or applications.
