Job Description

Wire and cable were Gore’s first products, and Gore remains a leader in the field of signal transmission. Today, Gore's cable and material solutions for electronics provide reliability in the most demanding environments. These products have been used for more than 50 years in a variety of industries, including aerospace, industrial electronics, mobile communications, and semiconductor manufacturing. We are looking for an experienced New Product Development Specialist to join our Aerospace team in Avondale, PA.

In this role, you will help shape the future of the Electronic Products Division by generating, analyzing, and developing new product opportunities. You will identify and assess customer interest and needs, leverage information from industry contacts, conduct market research, and apply your knowledge of Gore capabilities to new products and markets.
  
The ideal candidate will:

     Responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with new-product development teams and new-business development associates to identify new opportunities, develop concepts and solutions, and drive product concepts that are tailored and adjusted to meet market needs

  • Networking within the aerospace industry to understand the significant problems, true unmet needs, and maps for technology strategies

  • Focusing efforts to understand fitness for use, business opportunity, and technical feasibility

  • Understanding Gore's key capabilities and areas of differentiation

  • Driving and developing new-product concepts via Distinctive Capability discussions, rather than selling existing products

  • Leading new-product development projects and/or teams and interacting with external customers and contacts to evaluate and develop new business ideas in all three aerospace sub-segments (Military, Civil, and Space)

  • Assessing business opportunities, commercial options, and investments required for implementation of preferred options

  • Preparing and presenting strong business cases and plans to leadership for potential opportunities requiring significant resources or investments

  • Coordinating all aspects of market evaluation/assessment

  • Developing business strategies for new products and technologies

  • Leading business model exploration

  • Teaming to develop prototypes and test samples of product concepts

  • Educating target-market audiences about Gore capabilities

  • Working directly with potential customers and partners to develop new products, while protecting Gore's intellectual property

  • Influencing and creating cross-functional support for new product ideas






Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications

  • Technical or business degree   
  • At least 3 years of business experience in the aerospace industry 
  • Previous experience in a product manager, product development, or new business development role with an emphasis on early stage concept development  
  • Prior experience supporting products with electrical systems & signal transmissions
  • Experience with market research, opportunity-assessment tools, project reviews, and stage-gate development processes    
  • Knowledge of IP protection practices and experience with nondisclosure agreements (NDAs)
  • Proven/demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Creative, proven self-starter
  • Ability to:
    • Adapt and change direction/approach when necessary  
    • Effectively collaborate internally and externally
    • Navigate early-stage development when working with limited data
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%
  • This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information.  Candidates must be “U.S. Persons” as that term is defined in 8 USC §1324b(a)(3)

Desirable Job Qualifications

  • Master of business administration (MBA) degree

  • At least 5 years' experience in early-stage new-business development

  • Global experience
