What You’ll Do
John Deere Seeding Group in Moline, IL is seeking a Strategic Supply Management Specialist to support the Supply Management Product Development Process (PDP) activities. In addition, you will:
- Participate in Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP) project teams to meet objectives and represent Supply Chain Management.
- Work closely with suppliers, cost management and engineers to define and exceed Cost Reduction objectives.
- Obtain and analyze quotes, leverage cost models, negotiate pricing, work with engineering decisions, and order tooling.
- Analyze and process continuous improvement engineering change memos (ECM).
- Source new parts and work with suppliers on revised parts for proper disposition.
- Work with appropriate supply councils to ensure alignment and ensure unit compliance with corporate led strategies.
- Interact with Supply Base Managers.
- Manage supplier relationships and drive improvements in quality, delivery and price.
- Review John Deere Cost Reduction Opportunity Process (JD-CROP) submissions from suppliers and participate in Achieving Excellence (AE) reviews of the supply base.
- Maintain supplier alignment with PDP Supply Mgmt Specialists.
- Analyze, setup and maintain sub-contracting process in SAP.
What It Takes
We need a solid communicator, who thrives on solving problems and
working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's
degree in Engineering, Supply Management, or Business/Management, or
equivalent work experience. Additionally, we require:
- Effective negotiation skills including ability to influence without authority.
- 1-3 years’ experience working with Supply Management.
- Analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
- Skill in interpersonal, interdepartmental and supplier communications.
- Experience with project management.
- Strong organizational skills.
A strong candidate will also have:
- Prior experience in a factory environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in multiple commodities.
- Knowledge of cost management tools.
- Experienced in SAP.
