| Ensure
that Data Center Networking and Cabling installation and services
provided out of Global Datacenters are established in a professional
manner. This includes any services in the data center provided by a
service provider and the service line. For a dedicated global Datacenter (GDC) responsible for installed footprint of components in the area of responsibility Data Center Networking and associated cabling and connectivity. This includes the oversight of all installations, connections and technical changes based on standards, best practices and standard operating procedures, and include operational support, planning and reporting. Overall accountability for this domain resides with the service line. This role has a functional reporting line to the service line organization. The role contributed and coordinated with the service line on behalf of the data center. For the area of responsibility Data Center Network in a dedicated GDC: • Serve as a point of contact and/or escalation for related requests for services, information or direction, in coordination and support with the service line. • Makes sure that services are aligned and managed according to internal standards and guidelines. • Works close together with respective Service Line (EPS) – guaranteed by a functional reporting line into EPS service line. • Enforce defined data center network policies for installations, security, preventive maintenance schedules and capacity limits. • Create and maintain a strong partnership to ensure close coordination with customers, GIS Teams, Data Center teams and Service Providers. • Regularly performs local service reviews to ensure conformance with service-, quality-, security requirements and industry best practice. • Ensures that all supporting components of the service, including any associated SLAs and OLAs are aligned and managed as an integrated service. • Regularly reviews vendor reports to ensure that Services, where hardware is hosted in local GDC) are delivered in accordance to contracted SLAs ( e.g. performance-, capacity-, incidents-, problem- and exception reports). • Ensures that Tools and Processes are delivered and implemented in accordance to SLA/OLA. • Enforces the implementation of compliance and security measures. • Approves / co-approves all technical change requests related to Systems hosted in corresponding GDC. • Supports NOC and Service line in any kind of incident related to the service hosted in the local GDC. • Ensures completeness of CMDB for specific service and location. • Member of the local Technical Change Board. ACCOUNTABILITIES In addition to accountabilities listed above in Job Purpose: The SME Data Center Networking & Cabling, working in close coordination with the LAN Connectivity Service Line, is responsible for the day to day delivery of the particular IT Service within the agreed service levels. The SME Data Center Networking & Cabling ensures that the relevant resources from the underpinning IT services are engaged in the delivery and support of the IT service. • Solicits required data, statistics and reports for analysis to facilitate effective Data Center Networking & Cabling monitoring and performance. • Provides input in defining Data Center Networking & Cabling attributes such as performance, availability etc. • Understands the Data Center Networking & Cabling (underpinning IT Services and their service components, etc.). • Serves as the first point of escalation for major incidents relating to the Data Center Networking & Cabling. • Participates in internal and external IT service review meetings. • Ensures that the Data Center Networking & Cabling entry in the Data Center Networking & Cabling catalogue is accurate and is maintained • Identifies improvement opportunities for inclusion in the continual service improvement (CSI) register. • Makes improvements to the Data Center Networking & Cabling. Ensure the provision of appropriate technical expertise and resources required to deliver defined service standards in the data center. • Provides technical knowledge and leadership in the specific technical areas covered by the team or department. • Ensures necessary technical training, awareness and experience levels are maintained within the team or department. • Reports to senior management on technical issues relevant to their area of responsibility. This role will ensure that all day-to-day operational activities are carried out in a timely and reliable way. • Assumes responsibility for the Data Center Networking and Cabling in the data center. • Reports to senior management on all IT operations issues. Responsible for understanding applicable Service Level Agreements and ensures that these are met. • Ensures that the delivery of the service in the data center is aligned with SLA and SLR targets. • Ensures that service reports are produced for each customer service and that breaches of SLA targets are highlighted investigated and agreed actions progressed. • Ensures that all changes are assessed for their impact on service levels, including SLAs, OLAs and underpinning contracts, including attendance at CAB meetings if appropriate. Responsible for analyzing, measuring and suggesting improvements to the availability of IT services. • Assumes responsibility for monitoring actual IT availability achieved against SLA targets. Provides a range of IT availability reporting to ensure that agreed levels of availability, reliability and maintainability are measured and monitored on a on-going basis. • Proactively improves service availability wherever possible and optimizes the availability of the IT infrastructure to deliver cost-effective improvements that deliver tangible benefits to the business. Responsible that services and infrastructure are able to deliver the agreed capacity and performance targets in a cost effective and timely manner. • Ensures that there is adequate IT capacity to meet required levels of services. Ensures that senior IT management is correctly advised on how to match capacity and demand and to ensure that use of existing capacity is optimized. • Understands the current usage of the infrastructure and IT services, and maximum capacity of each component. | EDUCATION • Essential: o University degree level education or comparable education in Computer Science or Engineering Science (technical background) o Cisco Unified Fabric Support/Implementation certification or equivalent • Desirable: o ITIL v3 experience or certification o Project Management skills EXPERIENCE • 7+ years of IT experience in Data Center Networking. • More than 3 years of experience in Service Management of a regional or global service portfolio. • Virtualized data center experience • Familiar with qualified infrastructures • Structured copper and fiber plants experience • Cisco Nexus equipment based experience • Used to working in a matrix organization. • Experienced in coordinating and directing service providers SKILLS/JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE • Superior troubleshooting skills • Excellent understanding of Data Center technology. • Good knowledge of IT infrastructure operational tasks • Data Center Network provisioning, support and design • Strong knowledge of the products, technologies, and best practices involved in providing secure, cost-effective data center services • Strong customer facing and relationship management skills • Proven track record working with multinational teams OTHER • Fluency (oral and written) in English, any additional language is a plus • Good written, presentation and verbal communication skills Novartis is an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
