Business Unit Overview
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is the investment management arm providing global investment opportunities to a substantial and diversified client base including institutions, governments and high net worth individuals. GSAM has become one of the pre-eminent investment management organizations globally, with responsibility for over $950bn in assets under supervision. Critical to the success of GSAM is our ability to leverage a global team of talented professionals in order to define solutions and lead change across the operational infrastructure.

GSAM Operations is part of the Federation division of Goldman Sachs and comprises of ~500 professionals based in 5 centres across the globe. It consists of three broad functional areas, Portfolio Control & Analysis, (PCA) Trade Management, and Investment Services Group, all of which work in a dynamic environment where control, client service and excellence in execution are fundamental principles.

The Client Middle Office (CMO) team sits within PCA and has primary responsibility for all aspects of portfolio accounting, cash management, client and regulatory reporting, and serves as the single point of contact for all operations related client inquiries. These functions cover a wide range of clients and a complex product range, which include equities, fixed income, currency and derivatives. The group supports portfolio managers, sales and client service professionals by providing accurate and timely client account information and overseeing all aspects of operational risk across portfolios. This involves extensive interaction with internal and external parties to ensure effective oversight for existing business and also to shape and implement solutions for new clients, products, strategies, and system architecture. The group continues to focus on best in-class client experience and working closely with the business to maintain and enhance client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
The Vice President managing CMO would be responsible for supervising a team of ~ 55 individuals who are responsible for overseeing portfolio accounting, net asset valuation calculations, cash management, client reporting, client experience initiatives, and a number of risk and control functions. The individual is also responsible for the quality and accuracy of information in client accounts. Specifically the responsibilities of the role will involve:
• Take responsibility for delivering best in class client experience, using innovative approaches to identify and address clients’ needs
• Providing effective thought leadership in navigating evolving financial regulatory landscape and helping to develop technological solutions to build appropriate architecture
• Scalability analysis of workflow cost drivers and trends to help drive process improvements and efficiency, budgeting and cost allocation to various revenue producing desks
• Contributing to the development of the methods to improve processes, reduce risks, increase controls, and / or increase customer satisfaction.
• Owning relationships with brokers, custodians, prime brokers and fund administrators to improve quality and productivity of work, integrating best practices as appropriate
• Represent GSAM in industry forums and help define market and GSAM processes to meet changing regulatory requirements
• Liaise with internal and external business partners / clients

Basic Qualifications

• 8 years+ with either an asset/investment management or financial services background
• Background in Portfolio Accounting and Relationship Management

• Keen to possess a good understanding of client types, relevant markets, products, processes, regulations and systems required to achieve business objectives
