Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for supporting the refinery’s environmental compliance with corporate policies and federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Preparing and submitting compliance reports to local, state and federal agencies (e.g. MACT, CEM reports, BWN sewer reports) including Tank Seal Inspection Program, Leak Detection and Repair Program
  • Maintaining environmental records and documentation that supports compliance with all requirements, the HSSE MS, ISO 14001 and the Annual Assurance Letter Process.
  • Must also be able to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies and be available during on-site inspections.
  • Daily monitoring of environmental compliance
  • Weekly attendance of Field Support Team (FST) meetings
  • Developing and presenting materials in support of environmental compliance for new environmental programs
  • New and continuing training of contractors and employees to ensure their environmental competence
  • Effectively managing individual budgets, identifying and implementing cost improvement opportunities
  • Supporting the HSSE vision of Goal Zero
  • Supporting staff environmental trade association assignments and participates in defined trade associations for the purpose of working with regulatory agencies and influencing regulations that are consistent with Shell business objectives and environmental/social performance policy and commitment
  • Supporting HSSE assurance activities, including internal audits, environmental walks, ISO-14001/OHSAS 18001 certification review and preparation of the annual HSSE assurance letter
  • Participating as a member of Environmental Section or as needed in the Oil Spill/ Emergency Response
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for environmental
  • Define scope and resource needs to meet internal and external requirements
  • Manage delivery of internal and external requirements on schedule, to scope and within budget
  • Serve as SME for Shell Global Environmental Standards.
  • Serve as focal point for Joint Industry, Association and/or other external efforts
  • Work closely with Regulatory Affairs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work within teams, particularly project teams
  • Strong planning and coordination skills
  • Self-assured, confidant, able to execute position responsibilities with minimal guidance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple, straightforward manner.

Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum of Five (5) years experience in upstream, downstream, exploration & production, manufacturing, power generation, refining and/or manufacturing industry
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences or related field required
  • Experience with Air Quality required
  • Experience with permitting, interfacing and regulatory experience preferred
  • Experience with Title Five permits preferred
