Working together, we've become one of the world's leading research-focused healthcare groups. A member of the Roche Group, Genentech has been at the forefront of the biotechnology industry for more than 30 years, using human genetic information to develop novel medicines for serious and life-threatening diseases. The headquarters for Roche pharmaceutical operations in the United States, Genentech has multiple therapies on the market for cancer and other serious illnesses. Please take this opportunity to learn about Genentech, where we believe that our employees are our most important asset and are dedicated to remaining a great place to work.
The Position
Genentech is seeking a highly talented Associate Scientist to join its world class Research and Early Development organization as an analytical development chemist within the Small Molecule Pharmaceutical Sciences department.
This laboratory-based position focuses on analytical characterization, method development and GMP release of starting materials, intermediates, and final intermediates (drugs) to support clinical CMC development of Genentech’s Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) programs. You will be a key team member working within an analytical project group to support development, scale up, and tech transfer of synthetic processes for the small molecule portions of ADCs. You will be a contributor to regulatory filings and assist group leaders in defining regulatory strategy. The successful candidate will also be able to conduct and publish novel research in analytical chemistry as it relates to core job responsibilities. You will also collaborate functionally and technically with partners in Medicinal Chemistry, as well as ADC colleagues in Protein Analytical Chemistry, Early Stage Pharmaceutical Development, and Purification Development. The successful candidate will accomplish our mission through open communication, innovation, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and use of state-of-the-art technology, including chiral and achiral (U)HPLC, (HS)GC, MS (SQ, TQ, IT, TOF, LTQ-OrbiTrap), IC, KF, DSC/TGA, FTIR, UV, XRPD, particle size testing, dissolution as well as myriad of automation instrumentation.
Who You Are
A Ph. D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline (analytical or bioanalytical chemistry preferred) is required. Relevant experience of 0-3 years in the pharmaceutical industry will be considered. Candidates must have a strong fundamental knowledge of analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry and be able to apply it to drug development. Hands-on experience in conjugation chemistry, bioconjugates, and proteins will be beneficial to your application. A strong publication and presentation record with evidence of the potential to augment scientific and strategic competencies as your career grows to support evolving therapeutic platforms is essential. You will gain knowledge of current FDA regulations, ICH guidelines, GMP quality systems and regulatory filing strategy.
