Job description
The primary role of the Professional Services (PS) Technical Consultant is to help deliver services to our clients, such that they realize the optimum business value from our core high performance grid products.

The Technical Consultant may be involved in both pre-sales and post-sales client facing on-site or remote engagements and therefore requires excellent communication and technical skills. Pre-sales engagements could include setting up and running Proof-of-Concepts (PoC) or doing HPC Grid Assessments that are consultancy, “trusted advisor” expert services. Common post-sales engagements could include: product installation, configuration, some coding/scripting integrations work, and application on-boarding. We also are heavily involved in solution architecture, design and implementation services such as with deployment of an Enterprise Grid, HPC Cloud or other “complete solution” services. The Technical Consultant will be expected to deliver formal training courses that provide foundational knowledge for our products as well to our clients.

When the Technical Consultant is not being utilized for client engagements, they will be involved in developing new solution and training offerings, building their technical skills around our products and solution, or training other consultants in best practices and helping to create documentation or templates around repeatable services offerings.

The Technical Consultant will be required to travel up to 50% of the time, mostly within North America and more rarely to Europe and other international locations, which is all dependent on client engagement locations.

Responsibilities
• Pre-sales: Provide technical estimates for a given client project scope to be included in SOWs; participate in POC/Pilot projects to help win client deals.
• Post-sales: Provide professional technical services that include product installation, configuration, some coding/scripting integrations work, and application on-boarding, best practices/consulting advice, project management and ensure client acceptance is received upon completion of a project.
• Training: Deliver virtual and on-site training; assist with creation of new/updated training course content.
• Team: Ensure proper communication occurs with clients, Sales, Support, R&D and Services Team in terms of providing timely status reports; raise issues / escalations to appropriate management; work as a team player within Services to ensure overall vision is achieved.
• Overall: Ensure client satisfaction and high quality work and deliverables are completed.
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years experience in working for an enterprise sized company or at a major vendor with client facing duties around any/all of these technologies: Grid/HPC Computing, Hadoop/Map Reduce, Analytics,Tech and Cloud Computing
  • At least 2 years experience in System administration skills using tools used in Windows/Linux operating systems
  • Basic knowledge in networking, storage and server infrastructure architecture
  • Readiness to travel 50% travel annually
  • English: Fluent
Preferred
  • At least 1 year experience in recent programming experience in C/C++ and/or Java and scripting (sh, ksh, perl, python, etc)
  • At least 1 year experience in providing training in a formal education setting

• Must be self-motivated, like to travel, work well in a geographically dispersed, collaborative team environment, must exhibit a positive and professional attitude, and pay attention to detail.
• Project management skills – Execute tasks, while managing risk and ensuring on time delivery.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Must have the ability to travel abroad
