Job Summary

The Senior Oracle DBA will be part of Core DBA team providing Development and Production DBA services for Global applications.  The application databases supported are a wide variety of vendor provided and in-house developed apps. 

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as an Oracle production and development DBA on Unix in a 24*7 environment 
  • 2+ years experience with configuring and managing Data Guard databases 
  • 3+ years in SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning  
  • Must have experience with Oracle Streams or Goldengate
  • 3+ years in unix shell scripting 
  • In depth knowledge of Oracle internals (latches, system waits, resource allocation, data dictionary, table and index storage and access parameters) 
  • Extensive experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting - drill down approach with O/S, database and application 
  • Experience in designing solutions and performing global enterprise database backup and recovery  
  • Structured approach in problem resolution 
  • Pro-active database management 
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills 
  • Desired: 
  • Experience with Oracle RAC
  • Experience with Oracle TimesTen DB
  • Experience with MySQL database
  • Experience with  NoSQL and Columnar database technologies

Description

Responsibilities include but not limited to :  Production database support Define Oracle database architectures and strategies to meet application availability, scalability and performance requirements  Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new major, large scale, production systems/databases  Diagnose highly complex and integrated systems/databases such as system configuration, application design and application code  Responsible for configuration management, performance tuning and administration of mission critical production databases  Act as a database project leader for critical, time driven, visible projects  Perform short and long term system/database planning and analysis  Integrate/collaborate  with application development and support teams on various IT projects  Oversee activities performed by less experienced DBA's for quality and consistency  Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures and standards 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related specialty with equivalent  experience.
