Job Summary
Apple's
Patent Licensing & Strategy group develops and implements the
Company's strategies relating to patent acquisitions, inbound and
outbound patent licensing, freedom to operate and strategic IP
relationships. We "look around corners" to help protect and secure
technology relating to Apple's products and innovations, and we support
business and engineering efforts to expand Apple's technical
capabilities and IP protection in connection with new and existing
products and services. We are looking for an experienced
patent/technology analyst to join our team and assist in our assessment
of patent-related risks and opportunities relating to Apple's products
and services.
Key Qualifications
- Must have 3+ years experience with patent searches
- Must have 2+ years experience with at least one patent analyzing tool
- Must have 5+ years experience working in a computer-related industry in a technical capacity
- (experience can be concurrent)
- Must understand the structure and format of patents
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to summarize and present data clearly and concisely
- Must have a technical degree in the computer industry or related field
- Highly Desired Qualifications include:
- Experience analyzing patent portfolios in the computer/electronics/internet fields
- Expertise in one or more of the following: Electronics, sensors, wireless, displays, processors, memory, networking, material science or mechanical engineering
- Experience analyzing company financial and technology profiles
- Patent lawyers who prefer to focus on the technological aspects of patents rather than the practice of patent law will be considered, but this is a non-lawyer position.
Description
Apple
is seeking to hire a Patent/Technology Analyst to assist the Patent
Licensing & Strategy. The primary focus will be to review and
evaluate patents and companies and to produce reports and analyses of
patent portfolios, technology areas and corporate backgrounds. A
successful candidate will be able to mine patent portfolios for relevant
patents and categorize them according to various criteria. The
candidate will also develop and create some of the criteria and metrics
for evaluating portfolios based on business and legal strategies. The
person in this role will prepare and deliver presentations and reports
sharing the results of their work.
Education
Must
have a technical degree in the computer industry or related field.
Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Computer/electronics industry experience is required.
