The Lead Nuclear Technical Training Instructor will assist the New Plant Projects (NPP) Training Manager in evolving the ESBWR training program vision into an effective, easy to use configuration for the technical training programs for the North Anna 3 project. They will consider available industry experience and apply the Systematic Approach to Training (or similar model) to develop and implement the plans, processes, and teaching methods for the North Anna 3 Technical Training programs.
In addition you will:
  • Collaborate with the GE Hitachi Nuclear Operations Experience (OE) Coordinator and INPO resources to identify lessons learned (LL) applicable to building training programs
  • Collaborate with Lead Nuclear Operations Training Instructor-Programs
  • Plan design elements of how to effectively incorporate lessons learned in a consistent manner within and across training programs
  • Incorporate modern teaching and delivery methods to maximize learning retention and minimize logistical issues with remote work force
  • Plan design elements of training programs to be user-friendly and to have consistent look and feel across similar document types (instructor guides, student handouts, etc.)
  • Be primary focus is program development
  • Provide instruction support for technical training as-needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university OR High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of professional training experience
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in commercial nuclear training development and/or delivery under Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or equivalent performance-based training model
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Digital Instrumentation & Controls in a commercial power plant environment (preferably, but not necessarily nuclear)– in either plant technical or training role Eligibility Requirement:
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of time
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Experience with overall training program design
  • Experience with developing and delivering engineering training or other technical training programs
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification or license
  • INPO Instructor Training Certification
  • Experience with simulator training development or delivery for either operations or engineering training (Part-task, Glass-Top, or Full-Scope Simulator)
  • High commitment to safety and quality
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Experience leading teams responsible for training development
  • Experience developing personnel training processes or programs
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills, with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to prioritize, perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability / proficiency in Microsoft, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
