Job Summary

Battery Systems is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician who will be responsible for executing engineering test programs as related to the development of batteries for Apple products. The ideal candidate will have solid mechanical background, experience with testing rechargeable batteries and collecting and analyzing large amounts of data.

Key Qualifications

• Test batteries and component parts with a variety of equipment (examples: Inston, other metrology equipment, shock and vibration, hardness tester, hi speed video taping, etc).
• High level experience doing cross-sectioning desired.
• Knowledge and High Speed Video Taping
• Execute detailed test procedures and accurately record/prepare test results and data analysis.
• Configure and run complex test setups using high accuracy test equipment.
• Assemble mechanical test fixtures and setups to facilitate product testing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical test equipment.
• Work closely with engineers to support battery development work.
• Report status on a regular basis.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Required technical skills:
• Educational background in Mechanical engineering.
• Experience with drawings, CAD.
• Solid Welding capability.
• Strong troubleshooting skills of mechanical setups.
• Ability to execute complex, detailed test procedures with just enough input from engineering.
• Familiarity with proper laboratory safety and housekeeping practices.
• Experience using Mac OS X and Windows OS and SW productivity tools.
• Desirable technical skills:
• Experience programming and operating measurement equipment and custom data
• acquisition equipment.
• Experience in recording detailed and accurate test descriptions and data summaries.
• Experience with collecting large amounts of data, data storage and data manipulation.
• Able to effectively contribute to a dynamic and often fast-paced, high-pressure work environment.
• Experience working with batteries.

Description

Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Impeccable organization and documentation skills. Competent in using productivity tools like Pages, Numbers, Keynote, MS Excel, Word, and Project. Ability to work in close cooperation with a cross-functional teams of professionals.

Education

Educational background in Mechanical Engineering required (AS/BS in relevant field preferred).
