Job Description:

As a Business Risk Coverage Officer at Capital One, you will apply your years of experience working with our Specialty Finance Group. The group's primary focus is equipment leasing and finance, asset based lending, municipals, taxi, healthcare, security, technology, vacation ownership, commercial rediscount, and lender finance. You will work closely with this group to enhance the flow of information between regulatory agencies, risk management support groups, and other business partners as the Commercial Bank's first line of defense. Your understanding of Commercial Banking will provide guidance to both the business and it supporting partners throughout the company. You'll team with world-class professionals to develop an interaction strategy that will ultimately impact the bottom line. Today, the Capital One Commercial Banking group services a $50 billion loan portfolio, serving more than 4,100 clients and greater than 35,000 accounts.

This role is part of the Business Risk Office team within Commercial Bank (CBRO). The team leads operational risk management for the Commercial Bank. Departmental functions include: policies and procedures, training and awareness, operational risk framework, process identification and standards, control monitoring and testing, metrics, issue and event management, risk and control metrics, risk identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting. The CBRO interacts with internal and external partners for Audit and credit reviews, regulatory exams, compliance, business continuity, third party management, information security, access management, model governance, SOX and data governance.

Job Responsibilities:

The Coverage Officer will be a liaison providing coordination between risk partners, outside agencies and internal support groups:

- The primary function is to act as a liaison - a single point of contact for risk management functions to the business

- Provide insight and expertise to the business on critical risk and regulatory needs through deep engagement

- As a first line of defense liaison, work with risk workstream leads to coordinate business interactions that add value and optimize efficiency for business leaders.

- Act as a fulcrum to work through risk management demands enabling the business to execute on their goals.

- Administer to a smooth flow of data to and from the business for examinations and reporting.

- Proactively identify the timing and need for resources from the business to ensure proper coverage and timely deadlines

Job Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in various aspects of commercial banking, compliance and risk management. Qualified candidates will bring exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence senior executives. The role demands a consultant-minded individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Candidates must also display strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity.

The candidate should exhibit a strong facility to absorb business requirements as well as apply those to a risk management discipline. 10+ years experience in commercial banking, operational risk, reporting, metrics, governance, and compliance is required .

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

- - Bachelors Degree in any quantitative field (business, math, economics, finance, statistics, science, engineering)

- - 10+ Years experience in commercial banking

- - 3+ years of operational risk management experience

- - 3+ years working with compliance and audit teams

- - 3+ years working on regulatory exams

- - Experience in lending for any of the following: equipment leasing and finance, asset based lending, healthcare, security, lender finance, and specialty cash flow Strong communication and data presentation skills

- - Outstanding client relationship skills

- - Outstanding ability to work in a collaborative team environment

- - Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities

- - Able to handle multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams

- - MBA is a plus
