Join Capital One's Controllers Group as a Principal Associate in Treasury Accounting! The demand for skilled professionals to support the accounting and reporting of the derivative portfolio is increasing with the diversification of the company's hedging strategies. Support the business in implementing new strategies by establishing the operational accounting processes in compliance with ASC 815 (formerly SFAS 133 and SFAS 161). Prepare monthly and quarterly financial results of the derivative instruments and present to management. Support new financial system implementation and upgrade. Be a team player and identify issues and collaborate on recommended solutions.

Responsibilities:

- Serve as a primary accounting lead in key corporate projects such as system implementations and upgrades.

- Create/implement processes and procedures for new initiatives and business changes.

- Prepare and/or review of journal entries and reconciliations, including documentation and presentation of findings to management.

- Ensure accounting practices and documentation procedures are performed in accordance with corporate accounting and governance policies and procedures.

- Perform the monthly analysis and reporting of financial performance, including preparation of monthly commentary for business owners and management within necessary deadlines.

- Respond to requests from other departments and perform research.

- Provide ad hoc analysis to management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, or military experience.

- 4 years of accounting, finance or audit experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- CPA.

- Experience leading accounting aspects of system implementations.

- 5 years of experience in Accounting.

- 2 years of experience in banking or financial service industry.

- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
