Responsibilities
North American Business Development is charged with the responsibility of knowing the investment agenda of the US and Canadian institutional market of investors. The role of the Business Developer is to bring in additional assets for the firm to manage by working as a strategic thought partner to existing and potentially new clients. Americas Institutional Group is searching for a Business Development Manager to work with Endowments, Foundations and Family Offices in the Eastern Region of the United States.

The new Business Developer will also work in close partnership with the Relationship Management, Consultant Relations, Product Management and Portfolio Management teams to ensure that we are properly covering all available opportunities in this important market. The Business Developer must be able to understand and align client interests with any of the existing or customized investment solutions managed by Wellington across all asset classes.

Qualifications
The individual should have a minimum of ten years of experience within the investment industry and have a solid understanding of the needs of institutional investors. The individual should also have a solid background in alternatives, equity and fixed income investing. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree with preference given to candidates with a CFA designation, currently working toward a CFA designation, or graduate level degree.

It is a position that requires a great deal of teamwork. The individual should be capable of handling a large number of prospects with a variety of needs. Initiative, creativity, persistence, and consultative selling skills are particularly important in this role. The position will require the individual to travel extensively.
