Job Summary:
As a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering you will manage subordinate level managers and Engineering professionals within the function. You manage groups of engineers focused on build architecture; usability and performance improvements to the build system, hardware validation of build farms. In addition, the teams will be responsible for all of NetApp’s build operations providing support for DATA ONTAP(DOT) and OFFTAP builds for all releases & codelines, as well as provide a consistent framework for the management of source code within ONTAP and support major ONTAP Releases. Additional responsibilities may include leading teams that work on Development work flow tools. These committed teams develop enhancements to existing systems and services, as well as develop new features. As part of the development tools and Engineering services centralized function, the overall focus of the group is on providing world class systems and services to meet the needs of the Product Development and QA communities, and help meet engineering’s release cadence, product quality, product cost and time-to-market.
Requirements:
• Understanding of Agile Methodologies
• Exposure to scripting languages like perl/python/Ruby
• Experience is managing development tools in Enterprise Software development environment
• Knowledge of Perforce or Clear case
• Managed multi-site teams, preferably India or China
• Experience in managing projects across cross-functional teams
• Ability to reach outside the organization into the engineering community to understand their needs and build an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness.
- A clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements and project management.
- A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, build architecture, and programming practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and senior professionals across functions; and have strong influencing and leadership skills
- Experience in software development.

Education & Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as an individual contributor and a minimum of 5 years as a people manager is required.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.
