The Client ITAM Product Engineer plays a key role in maintaining GE’s IT asset management platform that manages the delivery and detection of software and configurations to over 230,000 PCs and MACs across most GE businesses. It will be responsible for operational execution ITAM application performance and availability ensuring a positive end user support experience.
Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Manage agent, application, server and database health of GE’s centralized client IT asset management platform (JAMF Casper Suite and CA ITCM)
  • Coordinate communications, issue resolution, maintenance, upgrades, testing and implementation of the ITAM architecture and day-to-day operations
  • Partner with the GE businesses to ensure timely execution of ITAM server life cycle and capacity management
  • Execute ITAM server builds, decommissions and client migrations for acquisitions, divestitures and location moves
  • Develop inventory scripts to improve client hardware and configuration detection
  • Partner with GE businesses to meet operational objectives and detailed tactical plans to drive and improve agent penetration and the customer software delivery experience, while minimizing dependency of local ITAM infrastructure
  • Analyze large datasets to identify defect trends in PC and MAC metrics related to client IT asset management to develop improvement plans
  • Ensure currency of all ITAM architecture, configuration and process documentation
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related technical field
  • Minimum 2 years of IT professional experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in IT infrastructure management, particularly in the areas of SQL databases, Windows server 2003 / 2008, AD, DNS and TCP / IP
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with client operating systems (windows and MAC), software deployment solutions (e.g. CA ITCM, SCCM, Altiris) and scripting (e.g. VBScript)
    Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work out of a current ISS Location (Van Buren Twp, MI; Cincinnati, OH; Alpharetta, GA or Danbury, CT)
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • General understanding of client application packaging (e.g. MSI, EXE, InstallShield) or application virtualization (VMWare ThinApp) technologies
  • Experience in managing IT service or process improvements leveraging project governance or lean methodologies
  • Apple Packaging experience using JAMF install scripts with DMG and mpkg standards
  • ITIL foundations certified with working knowledge of ITIL service operations disciplines particularly change management
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; proficient in creating and delivering presentations; ability to communicate effectively with managers and GE executives
  • Exceptional team player and strong customer focus - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed and remotely based organization
  • Experience using MS Access, Excel, and Business Objects to extract, refine and present data from diverse data sources
