The Electrical Field Engineer will provide startup support and aftermarket service support for electrical distribution and utilization equipment. In this role, you will act as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory authorized representative for switchgear, relays, transformers, motors, and drives. The Electrical Field Engineer will be servicing and repairing similar Non-GE equipment.
In addition you will:
  • Perform on-site installation of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration after installation
  • Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sites
  • Develop and expand technical knowledge and expertise
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties and accomplish effective warranty administration
  • Plan, prepare, and/or instruct internal and external training programs as required
  • Be responsible to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization
  • Perform administrative functions; Such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, and expense sheets
  • Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites
  • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
  • Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment vintage
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an Electrical Equipment Services role)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness and ability to travel 60% of the time, as required
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a Valid Driver’s License
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working in an Industrial Environment or with Electrical equipment
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Prior field engineering experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Prior project management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
