The Premium MR HW Power Electronics and Controls Engineering Manager position leads and executes product programs with cross-functional team leaders and individuals to meet customer requirements for product quality/cost, to ensure that new product development is done on-time, to right quality and cost. | |
| Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Setting the technology strategy and direction of the business and driving continuous improvement of systems, products and processes. • Functional leadership of the Power Electronics and Controls Engineering team, including recruitment, team/talent development, skill set improvement, and mentoring. Team consists of power electronics engineers, controls engineers, lab technicians and ECAD resources. • Resource assignment and prioritization including headcount and base cost budget. • Instilling a rigorous approach to target costing for new products and driving cost out of existing products through the development and introduction of new technologies. • Leading change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues. • Optimizing team’s participation in all phases of product development. • Providing key technical expertise in support of the IB Engineering team for existing products within Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality Engineering. • The Incumbent will own functional leadership for complex MR subsystems including but not limited to Gradient Amplifiers/Power Supplies, Power Distribution Systems, Gradient Filters, Gradient Control Hardware, Gradient Algorithm Development, and associated System Interconnect Cables with focus on quality, NPI, and key ATD efforts for future generation products. • Opportunity to lead the global technology development roadmap for power electronics to be used in all MR product segments. Includes responsibilities of indirectly leading the development efforts of the sister Premium Hardware Power Electronics team in Bangalore India. • Closely collaborating with the GE Global Research Centers in New York and Bangalore India to development advanced technologies to be applied to future New Product Introductions (NPI’s). | |
| • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
• 7 years relevant work experience (i.e. has worked on power electronic NPI’s/ATD’s for large inverters, or amplifiers in power range of 500 KW to 20 MW. Also experience with medium and low voltage power electronics development). • 3 years project management. • Prior experience managing direct reports of at least 8 to 10 individuals. • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others • Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes • Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills. • Demonstrated experience in coordinating development efforts including global resources with a direct and/or indirect reporting relationship. • Demonstrated experience growing new team technical and functional excellence capabilities. • Proven ability to work cross-functionally • Must submit application for employment through gecareers.com (or COS if internal) to be considered • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must be willing to work from our Waukesha, WI facility • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background | |
