This role will be responsible for leading, managing and executing statistical data mining techniques to provide insights into the quality of GECC’s credit & investment risk data. These findings should identify opportunities to apply statistical methods, their design and implementation of analytical solutions that will play a crucial role in improving data governance standards across GE Capital. Specifically, the role will be focused on initiatives supporting GE Capital’s risk management prac
  • Proactively lead data mining initiatives to evaluate the quality of new and existing data attributes in GECC’s centralized data warehouse
  • Assist in gathering and monitoring of credit & investment risk data across GE Capital’s global portfolios with a focus on consistency and accuracy.
  • Partner with Risk and Finance peers to consolidate and validate GE Capital’s risk data.
  • Understand GE Capital’s risk data infrastructure and data lineage to identify opportunities to simplify & improve the risk data collection & aggregation processes Manage the monitoring and improvement of data quality through support of Data Stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage a team of data quality professionals. Develop processes and standards to ensure risk data is consistent and accurate.
  • Lead platform efforts on improving data quality, implementing new requirements, closing data gaps and exceptions and ensuring compliance with GE Capital HQ policies, procedures and data definitions.
  • Work closely with data leaders in the GECC global business units on initiatives relating to data quality and definitional consistency and ensure that sustainable process improvements are implemented
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key functional stakeholders (Risk, Finance, IT, Ops, Business Units, Data providers, Data Users) to initiate, prioritize, design & deliver high-visibility data quality evaluation projects.
  • Stay current on industry best practices in data governance & lead the implementation of new data mining tools in GE Capital
  • Communicate and document statistical analyses, methods and findings in a logical and understandable manner for internal and external audiences
  • Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong business finance acumen, especially in Financial Services Industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-profile, dynamic projects with multiple constituents, and involving technology development.
  • Prior work experience in enterprise risk management or finance, a plus
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data with the ability to distill large amounts of information down to the critical areas of focus
  • Proficient in software applications Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Business Objects, Spotfire etc.
  • Experience with statistical software such as Matlab, R, SAS, or SPSS and SQL, relational database design and methods for efficiently retrieving data from databases
  • Proven project management expertise and leadership and communication skills

  • Graduate degree in a relevant data science or operations research field with strong mathematical and statistical background
  • Experience in agile data analytics experiments and creation/deployment of models and algorithms to analyze big data.
  • Experience in operations research, statistical modeling, simulation or deep data mining in specific domains
  • Experience in data engineering, pattern recognition and learning, advanced
  • computing, uncertainty modeling, data warehousing, high performance computing, business analytics
  • Experience with Teradata, Oracle, HADOOP etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support projects from beginning to end
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and deliver solid action oriented results quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to prepare clear and confidently present meaningful analysis to senior and executive management level
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills
  • Must be able to work to tight deadlines with multiple priorities
