Solicit, develop, and lead to closing complex asset based loan opportunities through a proactive calling effort on internal and/or external sources for leads. Analyze, structure and underwrite qualified transactions that involve a high-risk profile company that meet the underwriting thresholds of Commercial Finance.
Major Responsibilities:

Independently develop referrals for CFD loans from internal and/or external sources that comply with the Bank’s risk appetite for Commercial Finance lending.

Independently coordinate calling effort on targeted external referral sources and known CFD prospects with Relationship Managers in assigned territory to maximize effective coverage.

Independently screen, structure and negotiate new loan opportunities interfacing with CFD Manager and CFD Senior Credit Manager as appropriate for guidance and support.

Lead transactions through the screening, diligence and closing process.  CFD portfolio resources will generally exist to shoulder significant portions of the underwriting and closing work processes, with leadership and involvement from the Senior Originator.  The Senior Originator may also be required, from time to time, to independently complete the underwriting and deal closing processes.  The Senior Originator must possess experience essential to these processes which includes conducting due diligence on industry, legal issues, collateral values and financial factors through effective interface between prospect, CFD audit/collateral monitoring, third party appraisers or consultants, internal or external legal counsel, and Credit Administration.

For transactions sourced without a Commercial Banking Relationship Manager involvement, independently coordinate additional product sales appropriate for the transaction by directing other product resources of the Bank to meet prospective customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of B.A., or B.S. educational background.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years experience in the ABL market.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship development, and selling skills.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience leading and participating in underwriting of direct and agent transactions within Union Bank's target market.
  • Demonstrated ability to create credit structures, rapidly complete complex credit analysis, negotiate and close complete asset based credit transactions, often involving multiple providers of debt and capital.
  • Satisfactory team leadership skills, willingness to both lead and participate in deal teams.
  • Proficiency in relevant PC skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet and other relevant software programs.
