3M Company is seeking a Tolling Lane side and Back Office Application Architect for the Motor Vehicle Systems and Services Business Unit
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Tolling Application Architect will primarily be responsible for working interdependently with a team of architects and developers to design and implement critical business applications supporting various initiatives within the Tolling business of Motor Vehicle Systems and Services Division of 3M. This role will be part of the MVSS Service Delivery team.
The position of Tolling Application Architect will be located in Austin, Texas and may include up to 25% travel.
Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical consulting during RFI/RFP process to do fit/gap analysis and solution architecture.
- Provides technical consulting on complex strategic initiatives in one or more phases of the development lifecycle that involve Lane side software, hardware and Back Office Systems (BOS) implementation and services.
- Build standards, best practices, and guidelines development in order to ensure consistency across development groups within the organization for Tolling business.
- Design highly maintainable and extensible frameworks that can be applied across the back office suite of products that require integration with external 3rd parties like, payment processing, violations, collections etc.
- The Application Architect will work with business analysis, development and quality team members to ensure a high quality end product.
- Will provide innovative solutions to articulated client problems and opportunities.
- Will be responsible for leading technical programs of major importance to the organization.
- The tolling Application Architect will be an internal consultant at the division/Business level providing technical expertise with new product development.
- Represent 3M MVSS in the Technical Space as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Will act as the key liaison between Delivery and Project Management groups.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or 10 years of software development experience
- Minimum 7 years experience with Java/J2EE
- Minimum 3 years of experience in software architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with multiple key relational database management system (RDBMS) platforms and related tools such as SQL Server, Oracle and/or DB2
- Experience within the tolling industry
- Experience designing and developing software applications in a commercial environment
- Experience with large-scale, high availability enterprise applications deployed using a major technology stack such as Java and WebSphere
- An expert level understanding of object oriented programming and design principles
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Safety and Graphics Business Unit candidate if available.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment
