Job Description
Gore Industrial Products manufactures a diverse portfolio of filtration, venting, and processing products that improve performance and reliability in industries including telecommunications, chemical processing, electronics, automobiles, fuel cells, disk drives, and semiconductors. Our portfolio of consumer products is engineered to provide high performance and unparalleled service life. We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Roll Goods (lamination, coating, inspection, slitting) Platform team located in Elkton, MD.

You will be responsible for several unit operations for lamination, inspection, slitting, and coating, including mixing and other ancillary equipment, and will provide process engineering support for multiple businesses. You will work with global cross-functional teams to improve processes and products, upgrade equipment, and validate new materials.

 Responsibilities include:
  • Identifying and driving process and equipment projects for improved safety, quality, capability, cost, capacity, and environmental responsibility
  • Partnering with production associates to conduct R&D trials
  • Troubleshooting manufacturing processes
  • Creating, conducting, and analyzing experiments using statistical methods
  • Working with design engineers to develop, install and qualify  equipment
  • Planning and conducting product and process validations
  • Matching fitness-for-use requirements to process measurements and set points
  • Interacting with raw-material vendors to validate and improve raw materials
  • Developing and championing a strategic plan to advance the state of the platform
  • Training and coaching technical and production associates
  • Documenting your work with reports, tech notebooks, and quality-system entries


Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles and demonstrated ability to apply them
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid mechanical knowledge and aptitude
  • Evidence of a continuous-improvement mindset for optimizing production processes
  • Reputation as a team player and an independent thinker
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Evaluate multiple options to determine strategic approach, prioritize, lead projects, and drive progress to plan
    • Network and contribute effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility to support off shift production as necessary
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%, including internationally
Desired Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or in chemical engineering with a concentration in mechanical (design)
  • Experience in/with:
    • Lamination or Coating processes
    • Web handling
    • Applying statistical tools such as SPC and designed experiments in manufacturing processes
    • Performing commercialization and/or validation activities
    • Applying Lean concepts/Operational Excellence tools
