Job Description




Best known as the manufacturer of GORE-TEX® fabrics for garments and footwear, Gore manufactures a wide range of high-performance fabrics engineered to protect wearers in the most demanding environments—from explorers on the North Pole to firefighters, soldiers, and emergency workers. The Fabrics division (TOF NA Military Business Unit) is seeking a passionate New Product Development Associate to contribute to the successful development of a major new product line.


 


            The successful candidate will:




o        Help drive new product development and commercialization of a family of products for Gore into adjacent business segments. 


o        Have the passion and ability to rapidly build new prototypes, define fitness-for-use, conduct designed experiments, and drive commercialization and scale-up.


o        Be the principle investigator as well as providing complex project leadership.  


o        Be energized by IP-sensitive, ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), and classified government work. 


o        Will exercise good judgment, which is essential for success in this commitment.


 


Initially, the focus of this associate will be to convert on first generation products through manufacturing. Ultimately, this associate will help to create the technology and product road maps for the future generation products.




Additional responsibilities will include:




  • Collaborating with existing businesses to facilitate the integration of the technical team, product specialists, manufacturing, and sales to drive effective development of new products. 

  • Effectively influence and lead cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, and cross-divisionally within the . 

  • The use of a phased development process is critical for successful project management.



Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or science (Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred)

  • Minimum of 7 years engineering experience, product development or applications engineering experience preferred

  • Demonstrated successful leadership of small, cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated success in project leadership – influencing and integrating across various disciplines

  • Demonstrated success using project practices/project management to drive new product development through to commercialization

  • Proven track record for driving projects to closure within budget and time constraints

  • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Passion for converting new technologies into products

  • Proven ability to prioritize appropriately

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Up to 20% domestic travel

Desirable Job Qualifications


  • Experience working with customers on defining needs

  • Experience working with Military programs

  • Knowledge of/experience with statistical principles and analysis

  • Experience developing new test methods to support fitness for use
