Who We Are

The Position

The Protein Analytical Chemistry department at Genentech is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time position at the Senior Research Associate level. This person will be responsible for performing protein analyses and characterization in support of development projects and routine testing to characterize recombinant protein therapeutics and antibody drug conjugates. This role will include the execution of established analytical methods as well as method development, optimization and validation of analytical techniques related to capillary electrophoretic (CE) techniques such as CZE, CE-SDS, imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (iCIEF), and microchip electrophoresis (MCE). Experienced candidates having high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry (MS) skills are highly desired but not required.

The individual will maintain excellent documentation of all work including electronic laboratory notebooks, test methods, or any other appropriate documents.  Additionally, the individual will be responsible for presenting results and experimental information to departmental colleagues, writing and reviewing internal reports, and representing the department on project teams consisting of members from all areas of process development. The successful candidate will accomplish our mission through teamwork, creative problem-solving, and use of state-of-the-art technologies. This work will involve collaborations, and candidates should be comfortable working both independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team. This position offers opportunities for scientific and career growth in a dynamic work environment.
