The Position
We are seeking a supervisor to contribute to a team that is responsible for generating recombinant proteins by transient transfection of mammalian cells. Responsibilities will include the supervision and execution of all aspects of the high throughput production process including tasks associated with coordinating and performing cell culture operations (i.e. set up, inoculate, monitor, harvest and clean fermentors), equipment troubleshooting and technology development experiments. Technology development focus areas include identifying and solving technical issues, performing process development experiments and evaluating and implementing new technology/instrumentation based on scientific literature and industry trends. Duties include providing effective leadership to 1-3 staff members; overseeing throughput responsibilities, experiment execution; inspiring, enabling and driving innovation and appropriate change; improving the quality and safety of procedures and equipment; troubleshooting process anomalies and partnering with colleagues in process development and research. He/she will display a strong focus on written/oral communication, collaboration, attention to detail, proficiency with multi-tasking and analytical ability.
Who You Are
Applicants should have a thorough understanding of process development, cell biology and extensive experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with operating stirred tank and wave bioreactors is highly desired. Must have prior lead/supervisor experience and be skilled at working in a team environment. Must be able to lift 30 lbs on a routine basis.
Education/Experience: BS or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering/Biological Engineering or related field with at least 5-8 years relevant experience.
