The Position

The Microchemistry and Proteomics group employs analytical chemistry methods such as mass spectrometry to characterize and elucidate protein function. We build and heavily use proteo-informatics tools and datasets to achieve our goals. The goal of this internship will be to design and implement a data-driven application to support the proteomics efforts on a closed-source exploratory project.

The job responsibilities of the intern will be to:
1) Design and develop a web application to provide biological data for analysis and visualization
2) Collaborate with bioinformaticians to use existing tools
3) Work with users to gather feedback and improve application
4) Contribute to a standalone application aimed to be publicly deployed as support to a publication
Who You Are

The candidate must be enrolled in the 3rd year of an undergraduate student or higher.

Skills required:
1) Experience with Scala, Java, and/or Javascript
2) Strong background or interest in scientific computing
3) Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
4) Experience with mass spectometry, a plus
5) Data modeling and design, a plus
