A day in the life…
The Senior Front-End Web
Tester will be a part of a highly collaborative environment where
developers, testers and the business work together as a team to deliver
the best possible UI experience for the Nordstrom customer. This role
will be responsible for testing complex front-end interactive web
applications and experiences across a variety of browsers and devices.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability
to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment and assist
the test lead in determining test scope and strategy.
- Perform analysis of complex business requirements to determine appropriate testing approach
- Assist in the development of test cases, test frameworks and test tools
- Implement UI, presentation, functionality and content testing on web-based production applications
- Front-end testing across multiple platforms, including iOS and Android, for web site, mobile site and apps
- Troubleshoot and test front end enhancements and defects
- Regularly and proactively communicate with both technical and non-technical resources in a productive, solutions-oriented manner
- Work in all testing, conversion and implementation phases of a front-end development life cycle
- Help drive the testing effort and set test strategy with team, front-end developers, producers, project managers, designers and copy editors to ensure project outcomes align with priorities and direction
- Follow processes, templates and department guidelines to deliver high quality products
- Communicate testing issues to the business and influence decisions to ensure enterprise benefits
- Meet all requested development objectives and deadlines as assigned by Front-end Test Lead and the Site Development Manager
You own this if you have…
- Minimum of 5+ years professional front-end web testing experience, preferably with large, database-driven sites or applications (mix of manual and automated testing methodologies)
- Experience with X/HTML, DHTML and JavaScript required, experience with other web development technologies (e.g.: .NET, C/C++, jQuery, XML and/or JSON) is a plus
- Successful experience working on multiple time-critical issues in multi-tiered environments concurrently
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; sound organizational, negotiating skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must have solid knowledge of Web concepts such as UI best practices, SEO, Accessibility (ADA), etc.
- Experience with version/source control, bug tracking, and workflow applications/tools
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies a plus
