We are seeking an experienced manager who is highly motivated and committed to developing an internal wholesale team to grow our assets under management. As the Area Sales Manager, you will lead a team of internal wholesalers, review and monitor territory team business plans and develop strategies for successful plan execution.
Key responsibilities include:
Driving sales and retaining American Funds assets by ensuring targeted advisers are covered with a balanced focus that aligns with North America Distribution (NAD) priorities including retirement, advisory, and traditional lines of business.
Monitoring the sales pipeline and retaining American Funds assets by ensuring sales leads and proposals are producing tangible sales results and activity.
Developing associates for current and future business needs based on ever-evolving market and industry changes to meet rapidly changing client needs and AF's organizational vision and purpose.
Coaching and training associates on effective sales techniques to accomplish specific business goals and deliver expected sales results.
Conducting monthly business result meetings with associates. Reporting on and analyzing individual and territory objectives; ensuring clarity of performance for each associate relative to their results and business plan.
Reviewing taped calls, conducting call quality drills and workshops, facilitating call calibration meetings, and providing one-on-one coaching to associates to ensure North America Distribution (NAD)'s call quality standards are consistently attained to enhance adviser/customer experience, drive sales, and retain existing assets.
Planning one-on-one meetings, team building, and development sessions.
Serving as a conduit for external sales force members for resolution of service issues and technical questions.
Prioritizing and negotiating incoming work requests based upon sales force member expectations and preferences.
Representing the department in the development of messaging, training, and the launch of NAD campaigns to ensure the successful launch of new initiatives, processes and procedures.

The ideal manager:
Has 5-10 years previous sales experience in the investment industry with the ability to execute all elements of the sales process.
Has 3-5 years experience leading/managing a sales team, including effectively coaching and managing performance; proactive employee development; planning and managing workflow.
Exhibits in-depth knowledge of the mutual fund industry and that of current/possible future policies, practices, practices, and/or trends, affecting this business area.
Possesses a bachelor's degree.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate and collaborate with those internal and external, across various levels; possesses exceptional listening, probing, time-management, and organizational skills.
Demonstrates the ability to cultivate a deep understanding of all aspects of the business, customer requirements and service expectations amongst team members.
Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality, both in their own performance and that of their team, which involves attention to detail, thoughtful analysis and problem-solving, and accountability for excellent results.
