What You'll Do
 
As a Senior Administrative Assistant for John Deere's Construction & Forestry Division in Dubuque, IA you will support the General Manager and the Operations Manager with a full range of administrative activities including work going to and from other manager offices. They will receive and refer visitors and telephone callers and respond to inquiries from both inside and outside the company that require the attention of the managers. In addition, you will:
  • Schedule meetings, coordinate travel arrangements and maintain appointment calendars on behalf of the General Manager and the Operations Manager.
  • Prepare presentations, documents, announcements and reports.
  • Create and maintain data that is sensitive in nature.
  • Develop and maintain websites using web publishing software applications.
  • Coordinate VIP and company officer visits and support needs of visiting staff.
  • Interact across organizational lines and at all levels with management, staff and external contacts.

What It Takes

 
We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment.  Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.  In addition, we require:
  • Strong time management and planning skills and able to make appropriate decisions independently.
  • Ability to be helpful and assertive with evident interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet/intranet navigation.
  • Knowledge of electronic tools such as Net Meeting, Video Conferencing, WebEx and Travel & Expense Reporting Systems.
  • Strong competence for organizing and prioritizing workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience handling confidential information with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ability to work overtime on an occasional basis as needed for meetings.
A strong candidate will also have:
  • Administrative assistant experience in a corporate environment supporting management/director level personnel.
  • Experience in web design/development such as MicroSoft FrontPage and knowledge of SAP.
