Responsible for managing a team of Internal Control Leads with emphasis on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 as well as other applicable financial regulations. The job focus is on all aspects of SOX 404 including the planning, risk assessments, documentation, execution, toll gate reporting and post review follow up to ensure resolution of any identified issues. The position involves interaction across the business and entails working with a team of Internal Control Managers.
  • Manage a team of Internal Control Leads.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to offshore resources.
  • Manage the SOX 404 program for GE Capital Retail Bank, including annual risk assessment and scoping, control testing, tracking and reporting of deficiencies.
  • Review and sign off on all completed SOX and finance related process documentation (process maps, risk control matrices, test scripts). Provide on-going feedback to team members.
  • Ensure all control deficiencies are properly vetted with the process owners prior to reporting
  • Utilize CAP (change acceleration process) tools and personal network to influence stakeholders and related affiliates to implement necessary process modifications to meet regulatory needs.
  • Provide interpretation and guidance to Internal Control Leads and process owners regarding key risks, key controls, bank policy and proposed process changes.
  • Interpret and publish Internal Control Testing and Monitoring results to leaders in the Bank and Businesses.
  • Review results of Internal Control Testing and Monitoring with stakeholders and discuss viable solutions to close gaps.
  • Track any corrective action plans that come from the Internal Control Testing and Monitoring, internal audit or regulatory audits.
  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or accounting, plus 6+ years work experience in financial services industry
  • 3+ years of experience in internal control or internal audit, including SOX experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders

  • Familiarity with and operating understanding of consumer loan products and processes
  • Attention to detail and follow up skills essential
  • Project Management experience is a plus
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or similar certification (CISA, CCSA, CFSA etc.)
  • Lean / Six Sigma trained and/or tested
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • GE program experience (e.g. FMP, CAS, etc.)
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
