Associate Director for US Medical Affairs (USMA) will be responsible for delivering IT services and support to the US MA technology solutions; These solutions will support over 400 end users within various functions of USMA. This person will be responsible for managing the key vendor partnerships.This position is also responsible for the staff administration for the US MA IT team comprised of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Technical Leads and Technical Developers. The team size will be approximately 8-10 full-time internal staff and 20+ external contract staff.
This position reports to the Director of the North America Application Services and is a member of the Application Services Leadership Team. This role will be expected to operate at a senior level and have exemplary technology, people management, and leadership skills. This position is located in South San Francisco.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes and manages the processes and direction for the delivery of the US MA ITsolutions services (projects, maintenance and enhancements) and support (operations) that are in alignment with the overall Informatics strategy.
- Establishes and monitors process-related service and support metrics for the USMA IT solutions with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Interacts closely with the USMA Business Solution Owners (BSO) to establish strategies and roadmaps for the IT solutions.
- Establishes positive working relationships and proactively networks to build strong partnerships with the USMA BSOs.
- Exerts significant influence on internal and external service providers in directing them toward achievement of strategies and objectives.
- Provides management administrative support to the team (performance planning, development planning, performance reviews, salary, bonus, and stock administration, career planning, etc.).
- Develops medium and long-term work force plans for the organization.
- Manages vendor relationships, contracts, roadmaps etc. with SalesForce.com, Aprimo, and other solution vendors.
- Manages budget associated with the organization.
Who You Are
Desired Keys Skills/Experience:- 12-15 years of experience in IT/BioTech/Pharmaceutical industries
- Broad technical experience and business process knowledge in Medical Communications,Drug Safety, Clinical Operations, Call Center, data management, etc.
- 8-10 years of management experience including staff development, performance management, and career development
- Experience with the latest technology trends such as cloud computing, mobile, social, etc.
- Excellent facilitation, problem solving, decision-making, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated strong customer relationship management skills
- Demonstrated experience with managing offshore teams
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and listening)
- Proven ability to work in fast paced environment
- Experience working in a highly matrix-ed organization is a plus
- Bachelors/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC and Project Management methodologies.
