We’re currently seeking qualified candidates to join our team in the position of:

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will hold a current CLS license issued by the State of California or be eligible to obtain such license. Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Each individual performing high complexity testing must--
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyzes, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.

Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, perform instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance.

Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.

Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and must either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.

Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Helps to maintain a safe working environment by strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures. Is alert to the existence of safety hazards and reports any unsafe conditions to the department manager.

Additional responsibilities for licensed individuals:
Be able to assist in reviewing and approving test data before results are given to the pathologist for reporting.

If qualified, may assist in providing day-to-day supervision of testing personnel.

Train new personnel with regard to technical and operational procedures.

This position is Tuesday through Saturday.

Additional responsibilities for licensed individuals
Performs assays that detect circulating tumor cells and/or other assays as assigned.

Prepares and stains slides from blood, bone marrow and other tissue specimens for review by pathologists.

May perform manual staining and use automated stainers and cover-slippers.

May assist in purchasing laboratory reagents and instruments.

May assist in activities related to validation of new laboratory tests, new instrumentation, and new laboratory software.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology and a CLS license as indicated below:

General California Clinical Laboratory Scientist:

CLS with limited Molecular Specialization (CLSp(MB)), or California CCS (Clinical Chemist Scientist).
ASCP required with eligibility to obtain CA license if coming from another State.

Two (2) years related experience in high complexity testing strongly desired.

General understanding of the principles and practice of modern molecular analysis techniques or analysis of cell based assays.
