This position provides mechanical engineering technical expertise and project leadership in the ME team with focus on anesthesia and respiratory care product development and continuation. This position will partner with other engineers and x functional team members to develop new anesthesia and respiratory care product offerings and support manufacturing, quality and regulatory assurance, service and compliance.
This position is responsible for the design, verification, validation, and design transfer and continuation support of mechanical parts and subsystems for anesthesia and respiratory care devices. Duties include and are not limited to:
· Performing design activities throughout the design lifecycle, which includes design input and output activities, design, working with suppliers, verification, validation, design transfer with operations in order to ensure the product quality and production goals set forth by the business.
· Leading design visualization efforts with 3D CAD (Computer Aided Detection) models and essential component and assembly details to explore multiple design options.
· Developing innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
· Leading quality-engineering projects that provide imaginative solutions to engineering and customer issues.
· Developing and maintaining mechanical subsystem quality and engineering project funnel
· Providing guidance and requirements to new product development teams in order to improve quality of new releases.
· Verifying product sub-system reliability performance.
· Conducting analysis of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), Weibull Analysis and DFR (Design For Reliability) tools.
· Ensure reliability, performance and delivery through supplier relationships.
· Supervision of employees and resource contractors.
· Act as activity leader of department activities within a project. (Time-plan, resource need, status reports, monitor costs, resource usage, technology requirements and solutions etc)
· Technology management within assigned field. (internal and external). To initiate development of new technologies.
· Accountable to choose design concepts and solutions, components, tools and methods.
· Act as mentor and support.
· Participate as expert in design reviews.
· Within the job competence cover possible ITR and patents.
· Maintain and develop competence required for the job.
· BS in Mechanical Engineering
· 8+ years product design experience
- Injected molded plastic design, sheet metal design, mechanisms, cables & harnesses, labeling, and packaging experience
1. 3+yrs of project or techical leadership
2. Design for manufacturing experience
3. Design for Reliablity experience
4. GD&T Experience
5. CAD experience (PRO-E, solidworks, inventor)
