The Lead Counsel, Research is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to the GEHC Life Sciences P&L on a variety of legal issues and transactions, including, the structuring, drafting and negotiation of research agreements and related transactional matters arising in the GEHC Life Sciences business. The Lead Counsel, Research is also responsible for providing legal advice to the GEHC Life Sciences business teams.
• Acting as a business partner by applying combined business and legal judgment to proposed deals, relationships and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention.
• Drafting, reviewing and occasionally negotiating strategic business agreements and transactions such as (but not limited to) material transfer agreements, investigator initiated and GEHC sponsored research agreements, clinical trial agreements, equipment loan and evaluation agreements and confidentiality agreements.
• Advising the business on research, clinical and regulatory matters.
• Providing regulatory and compliance advice- in conjunction with the Regulatory and Compliance specialist areas in GE Healthcare.
• Supporting and liaising with external counsel on dispute resolution and litigation where appropriate

1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
1. JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership.
2. 5 years of business law experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to providing legal support to a research and development function, including clinical operations. .
3. Previous experience drafting and negotiating research agreements, clinical trial agreements and related services agreements.
4. Previous experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment.
5. Ability to communicate using English and outstanding interpersonal skills.

1. Experience of the Healthcare industry and previous exposure to medical industry regulations, guidelines and codes (FDA, ICH, Good Clinical Practice, PhRMA Code, Medicare/Medicaid anti-kickback, Sunshine Act)
2. Demonstrated experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment
